World-class health care for women, children and newborns

Saturday 9 September 2017

Women and newborns are at the forefront of a new $528 million Adelaide Women’s Hospital which will be built next to the new Royal Adelaide Hospital and expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

The new state of the art hospital will include world-class care for pregnant women and newborns, more beds in neonatal intensive care and specialty mental health care services for mothers and their infants.

Clinical areas at the existing Women’s and Children’s Hospital will be redeveloped and upgraded, beginning with a new Medical Day Unit to provide high-quality care for children who need renal
dialysis, allergy clinic services and immunology services.

A plan for the relocation to the new Adelaide Children’s Hospital will be announced by the end of 2019. It is expected the children’s services will remain at the current site for at least 10 years until relocation to a site in the South Australian Health and Biomedical Precinct is completed.
